alternative concept of the O-Phase

Because of the changes of the corona regulations from the 19.10.2020 on and the increasing numbers of corona infections, we have to cancel the offline-meetings. The Groups will provide you with an alternative online-program. You can find information about the groups on the groups and subgroups page.

The sign-up for those groups will start on Monday, the **19th of October at 11 a.m. **. The sign-up will be available on your Ersti-account page. The group-assignment will work on a first come, first serve basis.

If you can’t join a group, that you like anymore, feel free to contact us at contact@o-phase.com.

On the 20th of October at around 10 a.m. you will receive an E-Mail with contact info of your chosen group. If you join your group later than that, you should receive the E-Mail within a few minutes.

Additionally the Fachschaft will provide you with some online-program (eg. livestreams). We’ll try our hardest to publish a plan for those streams as early as possible on the livestream page.

Nevertheless we wish you an exciting O-Phase.

Welcome

We, the Fachschaft Mathematik/Informatik (student council of mathematics and computer science) at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology would like to welcome you on our website for the orientation period (O-Phase) in winter semester 2020 / 2021. Here you can get the most important information and news you will need as a new student.

O-Phase?

“O-Phase” means orientation period – usually a week of fun and informative events. It is completely optional and is organized by student volunteers to help you adjust to your new university and life in Karlsruhe in general. With the current COVID-19 pandemic ongoing, we were forced to change our program considerably.

COVID-19

The KIT updates the neccessary measures according to the changing situation. We adhere to the recommendations issued by the Executive Board of KIT and by the Students union in order to keep the risk as low as possible during our events. Unfortunately, it is essential to change plans according to the current situation and to abstain from heavy personal contact.

However, we still want you to be prepared for your first semester at KIT. We planned a lot of online events and a few select activies in person. If you don’t want to miss anything, keep an eye on our schedule and look for updates below.

Program overview

Please note: Our program will almost exclusively be in German, so you need to be able to understand German in order to participate! Unfortunately, we can not translate everything into English. If there is something you don’t understand, you can contact us at contact@o-phase.com.

If you are an international student, you might want to check out the International O-Phase organized by ESN Karlsruhe.

Most of our events will be online, but there will be a few meetups in Karlsruhe to get to know each other in person – in accordance to the COVID-19 guidelines, of course. If you want to join the interactive events, you will need to register.

Participation

If you want to participate in our interactive program, you will need to register. The important information will be available without registration.

You should received an invitation from us with the registration password some time in September. If you did not receive anything, you may contact us.
